Our Great Commission
Our mission comes directly from Jesus, who has been given all authority in heaven and on earth. He commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:18-20). We carry out this mission knowing that He is with us always, to the very end of the age.
Disciples Of Jesus
The Lord Jesus Christ has called us to be fishers of men in a sinful world. Our primary task is to make disciples, preaching repentance and urging all to turn to God, proving their repentance by their deeds. To be a disciple of Jesus is to follow Him as the ultimate source of eternal life – because our very existence depends on Him.
As we make disciples, we must not preach ourselves or use deception, but instead speak with sincerity before God, commending the Gospel to every conscience. For this Gospel alone has the power to save every hopeless sinner in need of grace.
Baptism In the Name
After we have preached the Gospel and the Word has pierced their hearts, leading them to declare that Jesus is Lord, we are commanded to baptize them in the name of Jesus Christ.
This act of baptism, which we perform in the name of Jesus Christ, is a beautiful and profound event. It is a public declaration of an inward transformation. By being immersed in water, a person is outwardly symbolizing their spiritual journey: their old self has died to sin, been buried with Christ, and is now raised to new life with Him.
Teaching and Obedience
After they are baptized, their spiritual journey has just begun, and it’s our responsibility to guide them.
This process of discipleship involves teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded. These commands are found in the Scriptures and were taught by the apostles. It’s a lifelong pursuit of learning from the Lord. This isn’t just about gaining knowledge; it’s about a total transformation of our lives.
This commitment to discipleship continues until Christ’s return, reflecting the promise that He is always with us as we teach others to follow Him. Our goal is to see every believer grow in faith and understanding, becoming a mature disciple who not only follows Jesus but also helps others do the same.
