The Divine Plan of Salvation

Given God’s characteristics—His absolute holiness and justice, coupled with His immense love—a plan was required to bridge the gap between a holy God and sinful humanity.

• The Problem: God’s holiness demands punishment for sin, but His love desires to save humanity from that punishment. A human being, born of sinful flesh, could not pay the perfect price for sin. A spirit, lacking bones and blood (Luke 24:39), could not die and shed blood to cleanse sin.

• The Solution: This is where the Divine Plan of Salvation unfolds. The one God, in His love, chose to manifest Himself in the flesh. He took on a human body in the person of Jesus Christ to fulfill the requirements of His justice. This single divine being—the invisible Spirit (Father) made visible in the flesh (the Son)—was the only one who could live a perfect life and then die a sinless death. Hebrews 10:5 states, “A body you have prepared for me.” This body was prepared so that God Himself could pay the price for the sin of the world.

• The Result: Through Jesus’s sacrifice, the penalty for sin was paid in full. God’s justice was satisfied, and His love was fully expressed. The Plan of Salvation is therefore the perfect convergence of God’s holy nature, which demanded a penalty, and His loving nature, which provided the only possible solution. By accepting this truth, we receive forgiveness and reconciliation with the one true God.
